Group Obedience Classes – Intermediate

The Intermediate program, like all programs at Common Scents, provides an on-going way to have more fun with your dog, while at the same time building a stronger relationship and making your dog a better companion. This eight week class is designed for those people who want a greater challenge for their dogs and wish to obtain a higher level of reliability. Emphasis is placed on the foundation exercises of staying in place, coming when called, and maintaining control when on walks and greeting passers-by. We also expand on the concept of in-home management and controlled introduction to visitors and guests. To keep you engaged, we introduce some new concepts and exercises that motivate and challenge both you and your dog. Our perspective is behavioral, not mechanical, providing practical solutions to the wonderful world of pet ownership.

With smaller class sizes, we provide an opportunity for more personalized help. We advance the concept of authority to teach your dog to respond under a wide range of conditions. We increase focus and improve reliability under distraction. We are able to assist you at the level you and your dog bring to the class, and move forward at an appropriate rate. We can also help to prioritize your program according to your needs.
